Arafat offers Qurei' complete security authorization, two Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in Gaza
Palestine, Politics, 7/23/2004

News reports in Gaza said yesterday that two Palestinian activists were killed and a third wounded in an Israeli bombardment of their car in Gaza. The Israeli forces fired two missiles at al-Zeitoun quarters to the southern part of the city and hit the car which was manned by the three men.

News reports said that one of the two killed Palestinian is a field commander of al-Quds group ( Hazim Rahim) who was wanted by the occupation forces because of his participation in resistance operations. The Islamic Jihad movement said that one of its officials was killed in the car which was hit.

Meantime, the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat agreed to offer his prime minister Ahmad Qurei' all security authorities stated by the constituent law.

These authorities state to convert responsibility for the internal security forces which covers the police, the preventive security and civil defense to the government.

News reports in Ramullah said that this came within a settlement conveyed by parliamentarian Imad al- Fakuji from Arafat to members of the Palestinian legislative council on Thursday. According to this settlement, the resignation of the prime minister Ahmad Qurei' is considered as rejected deliberately, besides it enables him to make ministerial reshuffles he finds necessary in his government.
