Some 21 persons killed in a new wave of attacks in Iraq, Elyawer supports the Kurds

The Iraqi President Ghazi Elyawer yesterday announced that his government will support the self- rule experience in the northern part of the country and will support the demands of the Kurds in Karkouk without re-considering the federation.

At a time when the US admits that the security situation in Iraq remains very bad despite the authority transfer to the prime minister Eyad Allawi, in an announcement reflected in the attacks in various parts of the country yesterday that resulted in killing one American soldier and more than 20 Iraqis.

Elyawer said during meetings with Kurdish figures in Salah Eddine touristic resort " we will support this experience in Kurdistan by all means," in remarks to the governments of the Kurdistan's national federation and the Kurdistan's democratic party which take al-Suleimaneyah and Irbil as " their two capitals." He added " we consider the federation in Kurdistan as a ship to bring together parts of the homeland.. I am proud of the state's administration law for the Interim period which emphasizes the federation and will be implemented literally."

The chairman of the Kurdistani democratic party Masoud al-Barazani welcomed Elyawer's visit. He said that " this visit comes in the course of stressing enhancing relations and an expression of Elyawer's interests in conditions in the region." He added that the Iraqi President "enjoys great support from the Kurdish people and from me personally."

Concerning relations with the neighboring states which the Iraqi government accused some of them of ignoring the sneaking of foreign fighters from them to Iraq, Elyawer said " we aspire the good intention from the neighboring states.. Iraq's non stability will affect them." He added that their meeting ( the neighboring states in Cairo) comes from the care to maintain Iraq's stability.
