Sudan FM accuses Human Rights Watch of pushing the UN to impose sanctions on Sudan
Sudan, Politics, 7/21/2004
The Sudanese foreign minister Mustafa Othman Ismael yesterday accused the "Human Rights Watch" organization of pushing the UN Security Council to impose sanctions on Sudan, and he said that it is not new that these organizations will work to raise doubts.
Ismael was talking in a press conference commenting on a report published by the organization on Monday in which the organization accused Sudanese governmental officials of being directly involved in recruiting and arming the Jangaweid militias which it said implants horror in the hearts of the black population in Darfur.
The Sudanese minister described Human Rights Watch as " lying one hundred percent." The Sudanese media center said yesterday that some 14 persons were killed in confrontation between the militias and a Bedouin tribe in southern Darfur.
