Four persons detained over planning for explosions in Bahrain
Bahrain, Politics, 7/15/2004

The authorities in Bahrain re-detained six persons suspected to be members in al-Qaida organization under the charge of planning to launch " blowing up operations " in the Kingdom, according to the ministry of the interior in Bahrain.

The suspected persons were detained earlier and were released in June. A statement by the ministry of the interior said that the detainees had completed their plans to carry out suicide attacks against governments' economic and tourist establishments.

The statement read that the authorities confiscated the detainees PC's and found out they include special files on how to manufacture weapons and explosives and chemicals and how to obtain it locally.

The statement explained that according to investigations made by the authorities, the attorney general re- detained the accused persons in order to interrogate them according to collected information.

The authorities in Bahrain on June 22 detained the same group over being suspected of preparing for " dangerous operations" and released them the second day because of the lack of evidences.

This step comes following American warning of the possibility of attacks in Bahrain, where there is a headquarters for the American fifth fleet, and ordering the evacuation of some American citizens from the country.
