Iraqi Official highlights relations with Syria, positive visits

Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Barham Saleh described his recent meeting with President Bashar al-Assad as constructive and fruitful, adding the encounter reflected keenness on cooperation in all fields.

In an interview published Tuesday in the Kuwaiti 'Assiyasa' daily newspaper, Saleh said his talks with President al-Assad and other senior officials in Syria were very transparent and frank, pointing out that there are good, promising aspects in the field of bilateral relations between the two states.

Saleh added that there are also promising outlooks for boosting trade and economic cooperation between Syria and Iraq in the near future.

The Iraqi official expressed his country's interest in Syria's participation in the rebuilding of Iraq.
