Riyadh hands over Sanaa, borders centers; seven of al-Houthi followers were killed
Saudi Arabia-Yemen, Politics, 7/12/2004
The website of the ruling People's Congress party in Yemen said that the Yemeni forces killed on Sunday seven supporters of the Zeidi clergy Hussein Bader Eddine al-Houthi, by which total the number of killed persons increased within almost three weeks of confrontations to 179 persons, at least.
The party's website quoted a military official as saying that the " government forces launched a strong attack since the morning against the remains of al-Hourhi followers who are stationed in Marran mountains," adding that seven followers of al-Houthi were killed today (yesterday) while other three were injured." On the other hand, Saudi Arabia yesterday handed over to Yemen a military airport and two centers for the border guards in al-Kharkhir area on the south east borders of the Kingdom as its property transferred to Yemen in line with the border treaty signed between the two countries in 2000.
The chairman of the Saudi general commission Saleh Bin Ali al-Mahya and his Yemeni counterpart lt. gen. Muhammad al-Qasimi signed the documents provided for handing over in a celebration held in al-Badee airport, 768 Kilometers to the northern east of the Yemeni capital Sanaa. While the two officials were exchanging the documents, Saudi and Yemeni soldiers downed the Saudi flag and hoisted the Yemeni flag at the airport's building. Yemeni and Saudi officials said during the celebrations that the three positions are within 13 sites to be handed over by Saudi Arabia to Yemen within the three coming days.
