Syria, Turkey for boosting trade relations

Head of the Syrian Commerce Chambers' Union Rateb al-Shalah Sunday said Syria and Turkey will soon sign two agreements on free trade and the establishment of Joint borderline market.
During a meeting held between a delegation of Syrian Businessmen and a visiting businessmen delegation from the Turkish governorate of Adiyaman, Shalah added both sides will work to increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries to 2 billion dollars in 2005.
"It was agreed on a number of joint investing projects in all domains," Shalah said, adding that businessmen in Syria are very keen to enhance and develop the trade and investment relations with their Turkish counterparts.
Adiyaman's Governor Halil Isik, who chaired the Turkish delegation, said the meeting aims at studying the best means to enhance the trade and investment relations between the two countries' businessmen, and discussing the possibility of establishing joint projects and exchanging goods. Later, bilateral meetings were held between Syrian and Turkish businessmen.
