Al- Assad, meets with al-Brahimi

President Bashar al-Assad received Lakhdar Brahimi, the Special Advisor to the United Nations Secretary General at Al-Rawda Palace on Sunday. Brahimi handed president al-Assad a letter from the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan on the Middle East peace and the situations in Iraq.
Talks during the meeting dealt with the role the UN could play in establishing just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East and in the restoration of stability in Iraq.
