Mubarak restores back constitutional authorities after arriving in Cairo
Egypt, Local, 7/8/2004
The Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak restored back, as soon as he arrived in Cairo, all his constitutional authorities he had given provisionally to the prime minister Atef Obeid as he underwent back surgery in Germany.
The Middle East news Agency said that Mubarak issued a republican decree provided for the abrogation of the special law for Obeid to assuming temporarily legal and constitutional authorities and specialization, assigned to the President of the republic.
Among the authorities given by Mubarak to his prime minister before leaving for medical treatment in Germany was the authority of the commander of the army and the military ruler, according to the state of emergency valid in Egypt since the assassination of former Egyptian President Anwar al-Sadat 23 years ago.
Obeid, the speaker of the Egytian parliament Fatehi Sorour, the chairman of the Shoura council Safwat al-Sharif and Patriarch Shaneouda II received Mubarak upon his arrival at Cairo's airport yesterday.
The President seemed in a good health condition. He walked smoothly upon landing from the plane. Mubarak ( 76 year old) traveled to Germany on June 20 to have back surgery.
