Lahoud meets Lukashenko on ME peace
Lebanon-Belarus, Politics, 7/8/2004

Lebanese President Emile Lahoud and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko Wednesday held talks in the Belarusian Capital Minsk on the bilateral relations between both countries, peace process and the situation in Iraq and Palestine.

Lebanese National Information Agency said both presidents stressed the necessity of achieving the just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East and implementing UN resolutions in order to end tension in the region.

The Lebanese Agency quoted Lahoud as saying that the only solution to the Middle East issue is the implementation of the international resolutions and the Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Arab lands.

Lahoud added "we aspire to Europe's cooperation and the love-peace countries in order to stabilize peace and security in the world." The Belarusian President, for his part, stressed that viewpoints were identical on a number of issues, particularly the Palestinian issue, adding that Belarus is still adhered to the Arab just causes.
