Six Palestinians killed, Quartet resumes meetings
Palestine-Israel, Military, 7/7/2004

News reports in Palestine said that two Palestinians were killed yesterday by the fire of the occupation forces at Kisovim crossing in Gaza and the occupation forces alleged they were armored and explosives were found with them.

Al-Aqsa martyrs groups and al- Quds groups claimed responsibility for the operation and confirmed they were made to indicate that Palestinian resistance will continue.

This operation was preceded by an incursion operation for the occupation forces supported by tanks and helicopters along Rafah crossing with Egypt to the south of the Gaza sector. Witnesses said that some 20 tanks lined up after midnight outside Rafah camp for the Palestinian refugees with one of them fired a shelling at the camp.

The occupation forces confirmed its operation in Rafah. One Israeli military source alleged that the aim of the operation is to search for tunnels used in smuggling weapons through the borders.

One Palestinian ( 14 year old) was killed and another one was strongly injured when an Israeli shelling fell at Khan Younis city on Monday evening. The Israeli bombarded after one settler was injured in Nafe Dekalim to the west of Khan Younis. Al- Aqsa martyrs groups said that its fighters fired mortars shelling into inside the said settlement.

In the West Bank, the Israeli occupation forces yesterday at dawn carried out an operation resulted in killing four Palestinians and the killing of one Israeli army officer and wounding of other three.

Politically, representatives for the Quartet on the Middle East started a meeting yesterday in Jerusalem to follow up a meeting they had earlier held in Egypt's Taba two weeks ago, amid tough security conditions.

The Palestinian prime minister Ahmad Qurei' expressed hope prior to the meeting of doubling these meeting and following up what is going on, on the ground, with the aim to reviving the peace plan.

The meeting was attended by the US under secretary of state David Satterfield and the Russian envoy to the region Alexander Kalogin, the special envoy for the European Union Mark Otti and the UN coordinator for the ME Terry Rod Larsen.
