Mauritanian party in power 'understands' Morocco's stance over Sahara issue
Mauritania-Morocco, Politics, 7/6/2004

Mauritania's Social and Democratic Republican Party (PRDS, in power) said it "understands" Morocco's stance over the Sahara dispute opposing the Kingdom to Algeria-s backed separatist movement "Polisario."

This came at a meeting, in Nouakchott Sunday, with visiting delegation of the Moroccan Istiqlal Party (member of the coalition in the government) led by its secretary General Abbas El Fassi, also Minister of State. The latter briefed the Mauritanian side on the latest development of this issue, insisting in particular that any solution to this dispute goes through direct negotiations between Morocco and Algeria.
