Mrs. Asma al-Assad meets with the SAMS assisting commission delegation

Syria's First Lady Asma al-Assad has met with members of the assisting commission in the Syrian- American Medical Society (SAMS), which is considered one of the non- governmental societies outside Syria.

Discussions during the meeting dealt with means of strengthening ties between Syrian expatriates with their homeland and ways of maintaining cooperation between non- governmental organizations inside Syria and outside it so as to reactivate interaction to improving conditions in the country.

Mrs. al-Assad emphasized, during the meeting, the need that Syrian communities in the west are to play the ambassadors role for their country, especially as they enjoy both Arab and western cultures. Mrs. Al-Assad, in particular, highlighted the special role played by woman in carrying the greater responsibility to this effect, in her role to bringing up generations. She noted the importance of the meeting as a forum for the exchange of national resident and expatriate expertise.

Discussions between women, members of the commission, and members of non- governmental organizations which took part in the meeting raised several issues focused on activities of these establishments and ways available to maintain inter-contacts to foster ways of reciprocated aid.
