Saleh calls for saving blood, continued confrontations between the Yemeni army and al-Houthi

News reports in Yemen said that clashes between the Yemeni government forces and supporters of Hussein Bader Eddin al-Houthi continued for the 14th successive day in a mountainous area to the northern west of Yemen near the borders with Saudi Arabia.

Local sources said a group of al-Houthi supporters attacked one of the military points, a matter which will increase the number of killing.

The clashes took place on Saturday evening came hours after the call made by the Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh for al-Houthi to surrender himself.

Saleh said in a meeting with several scholars representing the Zeidi sect talking to al-Houthi " Surrender yourself and I'll bring you before just judiciary over accusations addressed to you." Saleh stressed he wants to stop " blood shed." The number of victims of the clahes between the security forces and al-Houthi supporters in Saadah province reached 118 and 140 wounded. The Yemeni minister of the Interior Lt. gen. Rashad al-Alami said that 32 members of the government forces were killed and other 120 wounded while number of killing on the other side reached 86 and 61 were injured. The Yemeni forces detained 85 of al-Houthi supporters.

In a session for the Yemeni parliament, al-Oleimi reviewed a detailed report on the confrontations between the two sides. The security forces said it seized sites and arrested the supporters of al-Houthi though he admitted that al-Houthi and his men had earlier prepared themselves for a long fighting.
