Kidnapped Turks were released; Three marines killed, Gulf states welcomes authority turnover to the Iraqis

A group calling itself "Saraya al-Tawhid and al-Jihad" in Iraq released three Turkish workers, it was threatening to beheading them within 72 hours, unless Turkey withdrew all its companies working in Iraq with the occupation forces.

The group said that it released the three workers for the sake of Muslims and the Mujahideen in Turkey and for the demonstrations which were coincided with the visit of the US President George W. Bush to Ankara and Istanbul.

As for the authority turnout in Iraq, several Arab states, including five Arab Gulf states welcomed the authority turnout which was made two days before its set date to the provisional Iraqi government, in putting an end for the file of the American occupation and in placing Iraq into a new phase that many hope by which acts of violnece will be ended in the country.

Today, Tuesday, Kuwait announced resumption of its severed relations with its neighbor Iraq. Relations which were severed since 1990 because of the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait under the ruler of the former Iraqi President. A statement by the Kuwaiti foreign ministry said that Kuwait will later nominate an ambassdor for itself in Iraq."

Meantime, the general secretariat of the Gulf Co-operation council GCC welcomed the authority transfer considering it as a step in the road of " handing over complete authority to the Iraqi people." It expressed its hope that security and stability will be attained in Iraq. the GCC general secretariate called on the international community to help Iraq and facilitate the mission of the provisional government in all fields.

The spokesman for the provisional Iraqi government George Sada called on the Arab and Islamic states to send forces to Iraq in order to take part in achieving peace and to give up relying on foreign forces.

As from today, the US is preparing to inaugurate its largest embassy in the world, two days after announcing the handing over of the authority to an Interim Iraqi government. This embassy is led by the US former diplomat to the UN John Negro-Ponty who arrived to Iraq on Monday.

The occupation authority led by the US in Iraq desolved itself on Monday and handed over the authority to the Interim Iraqi government, before its set date on June 30th.

The handing over ceremony was attended by senior Iraqi officials including the Iraqi President Ojeil Elawer and the prime minister of the Interim government in Iraq Eyad Allawi who was given a document which officially ends the occupation from the former American administrator of Iraq Paul Bremer.
