King Mohammed VI hold talks with President Tandja of Niger
Morocco-Niger, Politics, 6/25/2004
Morocco's King Mohammed VI, who is currently in Niger, part of his 5-nation African tour, on Thursday had tete-a-tete talks with president Mamadou Tandja.
The two heads of state co-chaired the signing of bilateral cooperation agreements following the meeting. The agreements, signed by Moroccan minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Mohammed Benaissa, and his Niger peer, Aichatou Mindaoudou, deal with information-communication and sanitation.
During the ceremony, King Mohammed VI decorated Tandja with the "Quilladate Al Ouissam Al Mohammadi" national distinction while Niger's head of state extended to the sovereign Niger's "Grand croix de l'ordre national."
President Mamadou Tandja afterwards offered an official dinner in honor of the monarch and the delegation accompanying him.
King Mohammed VI had earlier received at his residence in Niamey prime minister, Hama Amadou, and speaker of the national assembly, Mahamane Ousmane.
The sovereign started on June 14 a tour to five African nations, the longest since his enthronement in 1999.
After Benin, Cameroon, Gabon and Niger, the sovereign is expected in Senegal.
