Riyadh gives al-Qaida one month, Washington warns its citizens

The US warned its citizens from traveling to Saudi Arabia and called on residents among them to leave it quickly in a warning which is the second of its kind during less than one week.

A statement by the US Department Of State said that Washington is still receiving credible information, indicating to plans by what it called extremists in Saudi Arabia to launch attacks targeting the American and western attacks in the Kingdom.

This warning, however, comes after the royal pardoning issued by the Saudi King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz to the Saudi gunmen on Wednesday, according to which he gave them one month period to surrender themselves. In a speech the Saudi crown prince gave on behalf of King Fahd, he said that those who will surrender within a one month period will be dealt with according to the Sharia law, concerning the rights of others.

Worthy mentioning that the Kingdom has been witnessing since May 2003, a wave of acts of violence and clashes between the security forces and members suspected to have links to al-Qaida organization. These acts resulted in the killing of scores and wounding of hundreds.

The main security confrontations, the Saudi police are proud of those resulted in the killing of the leader of al-Qaida organization in Saudi Arabia, Abdul Aziz al-Muqarran, on Friday evening, in addition to three members from the organization while trying to get rid off the body of the American hostage Paul Johnson.
