Iranian President confers with Jordanian premier
Jordan-Iran, Politics, 6/23/2004
President Mohammed Khatami of Iran on Tuesday stressed that peace in the Middle East can't be achieved without the restoration of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of a Palestinian independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
During his meeting with Jordanian Prime Minister Faysal al-Fayez, Khatami denounced Israeli aggressive and "brutal crimes against the Palestinian people," asserting the region's need for security and stability more than any other time.
Khatami reiterated importance of the restoration of security and stability in Iraq, pointing out that the American "stubbornness and arrogance has complicated the situation in the region."
