Far East tourists head to Egypt
Egypt, Economics, 6/21/2004

In light of Egypt's increasing concern with the tourist markets in the Far East, a continuous increase on visiting Egypt by the Korean tourists was recorded.

Such an increase encouraged the Korean Airlines to conclude a deal with Egypt Air for increasing the number of flights between Seoul and Cairo.

According to the South Korean Ambassador to Egypt, in his recent meeting with Tourism Minister Dr. Mamdouh El-Beltagui, the coming phase would probably witness a marked increase in the number of Korean tourists visiting Egypt.

He added that what had been published by the Korean press on Egypt has actually collaborated in making the Koreans acquainted with Egypt and its tourist potentials.

Besides, organizing an Egyptian cultural tourist week in Korea has further boosted the ties between the two countries.

On the other hand, the Korean press has published a series of articles and features on the Egyptian tourism.

The articles, which were published in more than 10 Korean newspapers and magazines, have invited the Koreans to visit Egypt.

The articles were published after the trip to Egypt, which was, organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism for a number of Korean journalists.

According to Dr. Beltagui, the great concern given by the international mass media to the Egyptian tourist potentials proves the success of the promotion strategy followed by the Ministry of Tourism.
