Al-Qaida allegations over getting support from the Saudi police members
Saudi Arabia, Politics, 6/21/2004

Al-Qaida organization group, which held and beheaded the American hostage Paul Marshal Johnson in Riyadh, said it had received logistic support from the Saudi police that enabled them to carry out their mission.

News reports quoted a mothly news bulletin issued by al-Jihad website on the Internet that " members in the Saudi police provided the group which carried out the operation with official costume and police cars and installed fake inspection points.

The periodical which is published by what is called "al- Qaida organization in the Arab Penisula" said that the gunmen who were wearing the police costumes and installing inspection points in the road leading to the airport near al-Imam Muhammad Bin Saud university -- stopped the car of the American hostage and seized him.

The website indicated that the group then blew up the car of the hostage, stressing it was the same car the Saudi authorities announced its bombardment.

The periodical said that the group decided to execute the hostage after the end of the 72 hours set for the release of its detainees in the Saudi jails and after the advisor of the Saudi crown prince Abdullah al-Jubeir announced in Washington that his country will not negotiate with the kidnappers.

If true, these allegations will embarrace the Saudi government and weaken its position before doubts raised in certain sides in the American congress to the seriousness of the Saudi government to challenging al-Qaida organization. N.
