Al-Sader was invited to take part in the Iraqi national congress

Chairman of the Higher commission for preparation to the Iraqi national congress, Fouad Masoum, said that the Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sader will be among 1000 Iraqi figures who will be invited to take part in the Iraqi national congress which will be held by the end of July.

Masoum said in a press conference that " Muqtada al-Sader has started to convert his militias into political organizations. A matter which we consider a positive step. Besides, al-Sader's trend exists regardless to the presence of his militias and therefore he was extended an invitation to attend this conference which will be attended by figures representing all components of the society, from which a provisional national congress will stem including 100 members.

Msoum explained that the work of this council will be almost parliamentarian in nature as it will enjoy, in addition to giving consultancy; numerous authorities like objecting resolutions taken by the Cabinet and aproval of the budget of 2005 and monitoring works of the government.

Worhy mentioning that the higher commission for preparing the national congress was formed at an appendex law issued by the governing council before its desolution.
