Morocco lauds return to normal of Rabat-Belgrade ties
Morocco-Serbia-Montenegro, Politics, 6/19/2004
The Moroccan foreign department lauded the "return to normal" of the "old, balanced and friendly" relations binding Morocco and Serbia-Montenegro.
This came at a recent meeting here of secretary general of Morocco's ministry of foreign affairs and cooperation, Rachad Bouhlal, who thanked Serbia-Montenegro authorities for "changing position concerning our national cause," the department said in a release.
Bouhlal, who is currently on a visit to Belgrade, had meetings with officials of the country's foreign department, namely his peer, Sloboan Vukcevic, director general of multilateral cooperation, Zeljko Perovic, and director general of Africa and Middle East, Dusan Simeonovic, the same source said.
The foreign department SG stressed Morocco's will to "speed up the set up of an institutional framework for the two countries' relations," saying Moroccan foreign minister, Mohamed Benaissa, will answer before the end of the year the invitation of his Serbia-Montenegro peer. He also invited Vukcevic to come to Morocco soon for a work visit.
Rachad Bouhlal also had a work meeting with minister of human rights and ethnic minorities, Rasin Ljajic, focused on the situation in the Balkans, bilateral trade and terrorism fighting cooperation.
These meetings were attended by Morocco's ambassador in Serbia-Montenegro, Kamal Faqir Benaissa.
