Syria: Draft law to punish the US
Syria-USA, Politics, 6/19/2004

News reports quoted well informed sources as saying that more than half members of the Syrian people's assembly ( parliament) signed a draft law aiming at imposing sanctions on the US in retaliation to the sanctions imposed by Washington on Damascus one month ago.

The sources added that this step comes also as a retaliation to " the policies pursued by the US in the region and its unlimited support and bias to Israel."

The sources noted that 130 parliamentarians out of 250 signed this draft law with the aim to impose tough restrictions on the American interests in Syria."

The draft law which is presumed according to the same sources to be discussed by the Syrian parliament on June 27 gives the Syrian government the authority to take appropriate measures against the American interests in Syria.
