Al-Qaida leader in Saudi Arabia killed, Washington deplores the execution of Johnson
Saudi Arabia, Politics, 6/19/2004

Leader of al-Qaida organization in Saudi Arabia, Abdul Aziz al-Muqarran, was killed yesterday evening ( Friday) besides two other members of the organization and another one was injured during confrontations with the Saudi security forces during attempts to dispose of the body of Johnson.

Earlier the al-Qaida organization executed the American engineer Paul Johnson who was held as a hostage in Riyadh and this was followed by a fire exchange during which the Saudi forces killed three gunmen.

Adel al-Jubeir, the political advisor of the Saudi crown prince Abdullah, said yesterday that the Saudi security forces besieged a fortified position for al-Qiada organization in Riyadh after the announcement on the killing of the American hostage whose body was found in an isolated area in Riyadh. The Saudi official announced in a press conference held in Washington that " terrorists were killed" without identifying their names and scores of Saudi security men were deployed in al-Mu'neseyah quarters to the east of the capital al-Riyadh after announcing the killing of the American hostage, Johnson.

The US strongly deplored the execution of the American hostage Paul Marshal Johnson by beheading. The US President condemned execution and stressed that the US will not give up before what he had called extremists responsible for these acts.
