Arab Socialist movement refuses to take part in preparations for the national congress
Regional-Iraq, Politics, 6/18/2004

In a statements issued yesterday, the secretary general of the Arab Socialist movement Abdul Illah Nasrawi apologized for not accepting membership in the higher commission to prepare for the national congress in Iraq.

Al-Nasrawi explained that the chairman of the commission Foaud Masoum notified him that he was chosen for its membership. He added that in line with our " position in the Socialist movement" which stresses the need that the mission of the national congress is to " elect the government and then transfer to a legislative and audition authority and when sides concerned did not respond to this request.. we suggested an alternative, which is the formation of a smaller commission assumes the mission of audition and legislation and be a reference for the government."
