Egypt denies rumors on deteriorated health conditions of Mubarak

The Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak yesterday appeared at the Egyptian TV, to deny thereby rumors disseminated on having a health crisis.
These rumors were spread after a western news agency in Cairo received a statements via Fax from al-Maqrizi center for historical studies in London which is run by the Egyptian Islamist Hani al-Sebai, confirming that President Mubarak was admitted to hospital on Tuesday evening after he was exposed to a sudden health crisis.
In its main news bulletin on Wednesday evening, the Egyptian TV broadcasted a short statement made by the Egyptian President on the role Egypt will play in Gaza if Israel will withdraw from it. The Egyptian President was talking while standing in one corner of a garden expected to be of his house talking to two TV anchors.
Mubarak was asked about the Egyptian role in Gaza and he stressed that coordination will be maintained with the American and Israeli sides to obtain the guarantees of the Egyptian security men who will be delegated there.
The TV stressed that Mubarak received on Wednesday evening the defense minister Muhammad Hussein Tantawi and broadcast pictures for the meeting. One Egyptian official source said earlier that the Egyptian President decided to make an early meeting with Tantawi whose original time is today ( Thursday) morning in order to deny rumor over his health condition.
The Egyptian TV also broadcast news on Mubarak's meeting with the director of the US intelligence George Tenet, but picturing not the meeting. The TV stressed that the American ambassador in Cairo David Welsh attended the meeting and the director of the Egyptian intelligence lt. Gen. Omar Suleiman.
Worthy mentioning that Mubarak fainted in November 2003 while delivering a speech at the people's assembly and after an absence of 45 minutes returned back to complete his speech. Mubarak did not appoint a deputy though he has been in power for 23 years. According to the Egyptian constitution, the speaker of parliament assumes responsibility for 60 days until a President for the state is selected.
