Child Rights- workshop for Syrian journalists

A national two-day media workshop on the rights of children was opened in Damascus Wednesday organized by the Ministry of Information and the UNICEF.
Deputy Minister of Information Taleb Qadi Amin said in an opening speech that the workshop aims at identifying child rights and raising awareness of this matter through mass media. He added it is important that the results of this workshop appear in the Syrian mass media as this workshop focuses on practical experience in this filed.
For his part, UNICEF Residing Representative Kiari Lihman Tanguiri talked about UNICEF activities and work in supporting initiatives that care for children.
Tanguiri added that the media is a vital partner in spreading awareness of child rights and creating bridges of communication between the press and those interested in children's issues.
Other speakers, including Salah Riad Ajlani and Amal Dakkak, delivered lectures on the Convention of the Right of Child and its role in positively directing child conduct, and other related topics.
