Sudanese official: the peace agreement will not break the Salvation Movement
Sudan, Politics, 6/16/2004
Member of the leading commission of the ruling National Congress party in Sudan, Ghazli Salah Eddin, said that the negative aspects in the peace agreement which was signed between the Sudanese government and the southern rebels should be taken into account at its actual implementation. He added that implementing the agreement should lead to eliminating shortcomings made by the negotiators, noting that the next phase is more critical than the phase of the agreement itself.
The Sudanese official explained that the challenge which faces the implementation of the agreement is the establishment of a national government with a vast base that can comprise all Sudanese political strata, stressing that the success of this objective is linked to investing all elements in order to create a political movement of new perspective so as to rebuild the political structure in the country.
In a meeting with several persons concerned with the Sudanese affairs in Cairo, Salah Eddine said that the talk about dismantling the Salvation Movement is not justified in its being an experience which brought in more stability.
