Twelve Moroccan-born Belgians elected in Brussels parliament
Morocco-Belgium, Local, 6/15/2004
Twelve Moroccan-born Belgians have been elected in the parliament of the region of Brussels during the regional elections held on Sunday.
This legislative institution counts 89 seats (72 French-speaking and 11 Dutch-speaking).
Ten of the MPS of Moroccan descent belong to the French-speaking socialist party (PS). The two others belong to the liberal Reformatory Party (MR) and the Humanist Democrat Center (CDH).
These results confirm the progress of Belgian-Moroccans within the parliament of Brussels, which comprised only 8 Belgians of Moroccan descent in 1999 and 3 in 1994.
The Socialist Party (PS) and Vlaas Blok party are the two big winners in these regional elections.
