Maher: Partnership initiative responds to our observations; Libya separates the Maghreb people from the Arab world
The Libyan Presidency of the Arab Maghreb federation yesterday considered itself not obliged to abide by the partnership initiative approved by the G-8 summit in the USA last week on reforms and democracy in the Arab world by announcing that there is " no relations between the Arab Maghreb " and what is known the " Middle East region," at a time when the Egyptian foreign minister Ahmed Maher considered that the initiative " responded to many of the Egyptian observations."

Some 12 Iraqis were killed in a booby trapped car explosion
One American soldier was killed and two others injured when an explosion took place on a road near al-Taji city to the north of Baghdad. An American military spokesman said the explosion was followed by fire exchange during which one of the attackers was killed.

Two hostages released in Iraq
Two hostages held in Iraq were released on Sunday. One is Egyptian and the second is Turkish. A mediator who asked to be anonymous said that he had held talks with persons close to the group which kidnapped the groups and is mediating to release them without giving other details.
