Al-Ahram : Taha: Sudan's final peace agreement to be signed next August

Sudanese First Vice President Ali Othman Taha said that the peace deal between the Sudanese government and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) would be finally signed in August in Nairobi, Kenya.

In statements to Al-Ahram, Taha said that he will meet with SPLM leader John Garang to discuss the security preparations including the final ceasefire.

He termed as responsible John Garang who is keen on maintaining the unity of Sudan, noting that the opposition figures will take part in the executive hierarchy in the coming period.

Taha highlighted the importance of Egypt's role in reaching the final peace agreement, stressing that Egypt was a partner in the political and diplomatic negotiations over the past period.
