Al-Amoudi confirms his statement over al-Qathafi plans
Libya-Saudi Arabia, Politics, 6/14/2004
Abdul Rahman al-Amoudi, the detained in the USA, whom the New York Times disclosed on Thursday had unmasked to the American intelligence the plan of the Libyan leader Muammar al-Qathafi to assassinate the Saudi crown prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, confirmed the rightfulness of the report, stressing that he is personally involved in this matter.
According to what was stated in Islam On Line site from Cairo on Saturday, al-Amoudi confirmed to his "personal envoy" Ashraf Noubani with whom he had met on Thursday in the prison that " al-Qathafi was actually planning tio assassinate Abdullah." In a telephone call the site made with him, Noubani said " al-Amoudi is not involved in this attempt, but the Libyan President was actually planning for the assassination of crown prince Abdullah." Noubani considered that the report of " New York Times " is correct.
On the other hand, the Saudi mass media continued its criticism of al-Qathafi. In its editorial on Saturday, the Saudi daily " al-Ayam" said under the title of " dirty hands" that the reports which talked about the Libyan conspiracy shocked every body, while the Saudi daily al-Jazeera said " how can one be convinced when al-Qathafi announced in a huge media campaign that he quits terrorism at a time he is conspiring for the assassination of the person who rescued him from strangling."
