Iraq, Politics, 6/14/2004
The spokesman for the Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sader, Qeis al-Khaz'ali, yesterday said that al-Sader and his supporters are intending to form a political party and take part in the next Iraqi elections.
Al-Khaz'ali said " we might have a political organization, which means a new political organization." he added " discussions are continuous on founding this political organization," but he did not specify sides to take part in these talks.
Al-Khaz'ali indicated that the party which al-Sader trends wants to form intends to take part in the elections. He said " Muqtada al-Sader refused any political post and this does not prevent his support for any political figure in the future to take part in the elections." He added replying to a question whether this party will take part in the elections before the withdrawal of the foreign forces from Iraq "we will take part in the elections even if these elections were under the presence of the coalition forces, should they be honest and under honest control."
