The Kurds adopt a positive position towards the UN Security Council resolution
Iraq-UN, Politics, 6/12/2004

The Kurdish parliament considered the mention of " federation " in the recent resolution of the UN Security Council over Iraq as a positive matter and the Kurds decided to accept the guarantees of the Iraqi government concerning the interim law on running the state.

This was expressed in conslusion of an emergency session for the Kurdish parliament it held in Irbil on Friday evening to discuss the differences over the resolution and come up with a united position.

The two Kurdish leaders Masoud al-Barazani and Jalal al-Talibani had threatened of the withdrawal of the Kurdish ministers from the new Interim Iraqi government if the new resolution of the UN security council does not refer to the Interim law of running the state which guarantees the right of the Kurds in a " Federation."
