British foreign office minister Elizabeth Symons discusssed with the foreign minister Farouk al-Shara developments concerning the Iraqi issue especially following the launching of the UN security council resolution.

She told Syrian reporters that the European negotiatos will hand over the Syrians shortly the new formula of the resolution of the UN security council on the special clause of the mass destruction weapons in the Association Agreement with the European Union.

Replying to another question she said that her talks with al-Shara " concentrated on the Iraqi issue." She indicated that there were differences between Syria and the UK in the past, but she hoped simultansously that the " new UN resolution which was taken unanimously on Iraq will give the chance to work altogether with a partnership on stability and prosperity in Iraq of the future." She said that the European negotiators will hand over Syria shortly the new formula of the clause on the mass destruction weapons in the agreement, considering that London " does not stand against Syria's joining the agreement as it is common." She continued "there will be a follow up and Britain and the European Union desire to sign the AA with Syria and have recognized her important role in achieving security and stability in the region."
