Iraqi national congress: Jordanian thieves fabricated al-Petraa Bank case against Chalabi
Iraq-Jordan, Politics, 6/9/2004

The leading figure in the Iraqi National Congress party, Mithal al-Allousi, said yesterday that the leader of the paty Ahmad Chalabi, refused to meet with the delegate of the Jordanian Judicial authorities who arrived in Baghdad to settle controversial problems relating to the " al-Petra Bank."

Al-Allousi said that " one person that says he is a delegate of the highest judicial authority in Jordan tried for two and three times to meet in Baghdad with Ahmad Chalabi in an attempt to settle the matter." He added " But Chalabi refused to meet with him, and persisted to open up matters and bring back the money which was stolen from him personally and open the actual investigation file," in "al-Petra bank" case.

But the spokeswoman for the Jordanian government denied these information and said " No Jordanian delegate had left Jordan to meet with Chalabi in Baghdad, and any proposals will not be made except in the context of the Jordanian law " adding that Jordan wants to put Chalabi on trial.

Al-Allousi considered that the accusations addressed to Chalabi were of " a political nature " and came within the context of " deals with the criminal Saddam Hussein."
