Egypt's electricity to access Iraq via Jordan's network

Minister of Electricity and Energy Hassan Younis held talks on Monday with Jordanian Minister of Energy Azmi Khreisa on aspects of cooperation between Egypt and Jordan in the field of unconventional electricity.

The talks took up means of promoting cooperation in the fields of electrical connection projects in the Arab Mashreq and what has been implemented within the framework of electricity exchange agreements between Egypt and Jordan.

The two ministers also discussed the electrical connection projects between Jordan and Iraq, which will start from the Jordanian Al Risha transformer to the Iraqi station of Al Qaem over a length of 275 km. with a capacity of 400 k/v, for supplying Iraq with electricity from the Egyptian grid through the Jordanian grid.

Younis expressed readiness of Egypt's new and renewable energy authority to offer expertise to Jordan to benefit from the solar and wind energies in Jordan.
