Sudan: Launching the final phase for peace

The Sudanese government and the Sudanese rebels on Saturday signed a declaration which once again renewed the commitment of the two sides to a series of bilateral peace agreements.
The Kenyan President hosted the signing ceremony which marked also the launching of the final phase of talks between the first deputy of the Sudanese President Ali Othman Taha and the leader of the rebels John Garang to end 21 years of civil war. Women wearing colorful costumes celebrated the occasion while Taha and Garang signed the declaration which covers other 6 agreements already sined representing the cornor stone for a comprehensive peace agreement.
Ganarg said:" the document which was already signed represents a sincere announcement on our side that the war in Sudan has already reached its end." Before a crowd including Arab and foreign figures including the secretary general of the Arab League Amr Moussa and the Egyptian foreign minister Ahmed Maher, Taha and Garang waved by a copy of the documeny in which the two sides vowed to end the negotiations as soon as possible.
