Saudi Arabia, Local, 6/3/2004
Western diplomats and witnesses said that one Saudi opened fire yesterday morning at a group of Americans in front of a residential complex to the south of the Saudi capital Riyadh but could not know more details and whether the incident results in vitims or not.
This, however, coincided with the statement made by the Saudi Arabian police that the security forces killed Wednesday two gunmen chased in the nearby al-Taif mountanous area which is near Mecca, to the west of Saudi Arabia.
The police in al-Taif city, 50 Km from Mecca said that one of the two killed men is listed on the wanted " terrorists" in Saudi Arabia but he did not clarify if they have direct links to the recent attacks of al-Khubar.
Worthy mentioning that the Saudi security forces are chasing since Tuesday three out of 4 of the attacks of al-Khubar explosion which took place to the east of the Kingdom and resulted in killing 22 persons, at least 19 of them are foreigners.
Three of the executors of the operation were able to withdraw from the site of holding the hostages while the security forces injured and detained the fourth.
Meantime, the British daily the Times said quoting one eye witness that the Saudi security forces permitted three of the attackers to leave for releasing the hostages.
