Khartoum, Darfour rebellions exchange accusations over violating the truce
Sudan, Politics, 6/3/2004
The al-Adala and al-Musawat ( Justice and equity) movement accused the Sudanese forces of bombarding Darfour west area, to the west of Sudan and killing 24 persons, with all of them being civilians.
A spokesman for the movement said that the Arab militias which stands in support of Khartoum and the Sudanese army bombarded Adjiji town in Teir Beiba area to south of al-Jneinah- the greater city of West Darfour- and then attacked it following the bombardment and this resulted in several killings.."
The spokesman added that one Sudanese plane landed in Chad's part of al-Teinah area and unloaded military equipment but could not specify the sort and volume of the weapons. He stressed that the plane landed at the consent of Djamina government, according to a security and defense agreement between Chad and Sudan.
In an earlier development, A Sudanese security official said that the Sudanese forces deterred an attack launched by the rebels against Ein Seiro strategic town to the north of Kabakbeyah, which is situated on the main transport land linking Darfour from the East to the west.
However, a spokesman for the Sudan's liberation army - one of two main groups for the rebels, denied the report. He said that his group actually controls Seiro town.
These developments coincided with the arrival of the first group of the cease fire observers of the African Federation in Darfour. Earlier, the African federation said it intends to send a mission of 60 troops and 30 civilians to five inspection points in Darfour to monitor the cease fire.
