Scores killed in clashes to the west of Somalia

Some 31 persons were killed at least and other 40 wounded in clashes erupted yesterday at dawn between warring somali factions in Bulaharo city to the north of Somalia, adjoining the borders with Kenya.
Witnesses said they saw the bodies of 25 persons of the militias while other 6 civilians were killed as they were hit by random bullets as they were going for their prayers.
The fighting erupted as some 200 fighters of a split wing of the Somali national front attacked the city which is controlled by another wing of the front.
Witnesses said that the clashes resulted in killing 15 of the attackers and 10 defendants. Sources of the defending militias said that it was able kill one of the leaders of the attackers and seized two cars filled with weapons and ammunition after they had fled through the borders to Kenya.
Worthy mentioning that the "Somali National Front" which controls Gheido district in the downtown of Somalia suffers conflict on the leadership since 1996.
The new fighting between the Somali groups come one day of the suspension of the fighting which lasted for four days between militias to control the main port in Magadishu and resulted in killing 100 persons.
Somalia which has a population tolls 7 million is in a state of chaos and the violations of the law since toppling President Muhammad Seyad Beiir in 1991. Fighting between war lords and the famine resulted so far in killing thousands of people.
