Petroleum Minister: Natural gas liquefaction project in Damietta
Egypt-Spain, Economics, 6/1/2004

"The liquified natural gas project, which will be set up in Damietta to export gas to Spain, would be inaugurated in November," said Sameh Fahmy, Egypt's Petroleum Minister.

Fahmy, during his meeting with Chairman of Spanish Union Venusa firm yesterday, said that the first liquefied natural gas shipment would be exported to Spain within the second week of December.

The liquified gas project's total capacity hits 7.5 billion cubic meters a year. The annual liquified natural gas will reach 4.8 million tonnes a year, the Minister said. Meanwhile, Chairman of the Spanish firm said the project would boost Egypt-Spain ties, praising the positive development in the Egyptian oil sector and the remarkable rise in the natural gas reserve.
