Nasrullah accuses the American embassy of being involved in the acts of riots

The secretary general of the Lebanese Hizbullah party, Hassan Nasrullah, accused a group of persons linked to the American embassy in Beirut in trying to transfer the acts of riots which took place in the southern suburb of Beirut to other parts of Lebanon.

In a speech he delivered on Saturday commenting on the acts of riots in the headquarters of the party in Beirut, he added " I gave names of members of this group to the Lebanese authorities." Confrontations between the demonstrators who were protesting over fuel prices increase and the deteriorated living conditions and the Lebanese army resulted in killing five persons in the poor al- Silm quarters to the south of the capital Beirut.

Nasrullah called for carrying out a " precise and transparent" investigation over what had happened in the southern area of Beirut and ways the army dealt with the demonstrators by opening live bullets on the demonstrators and concentrating on the head and chest areas.

The Lebanese authorities, however, say that the general security is currently inquiring 124 persons detained following acts of riots erupted and attacks against the security members and the army. The military intelligence also interrogating seven persons over burning the building of the ministry of social affairs and labor in the southern suburb during the same incidents.

Following the incidents which took place, the Lebanese government on Friday reduced price of Benzene tank.

On the other hand, the Lebanese President Emil Lahoud admitted the difficult living conditions in Lebanon. He stressed during his visit to the wounded of the confrontations that the Lebanese judiciary will assume investigations over what had happened.

On the other hand, the Amnesty International called on the Lebanese government to make an independent and neutral investigations over the incidents and review methods of security forces treatment with demonstrations.
