US amends reform initiative

The US administration responded to the criticism raised by Egypt and a number of Arab and European countries by amending President George W. Bush's initiative known as the Greater Middle East (GME) for achieving democratic reform, US sources said.
The sources added that the new formula, that will be offered to the G-8 Industrialized Countries Summit, confirmed that each country has its own idiosyncrasies.
