Seven persons were killed and other scores injured in armed clashes that took place yesterday morning in a quarter to the north of the Somali capital Mogadishu.

A medical source said that at least four civilians and three militia men were killed in the fighting which took place between the militias pro the war lord Mousa Yalahu and the militias of the local war lord Bashir Raghi, who himself is an alley to Muhammad Omar Habib.

The fighting in which mortars shelling were use and anti armored vehicles erupted on Thursday following a warning by Yalahu to close the runway and port of Elman which is controlled by a rival militias. Witnesses said that number of victims is increasing.
