Ben Ali decides to establish a national translation center; journalist union

The Tunisian President Zine al-Abidin Ben Ali decided to establish a national center for translation in order to be a bridge linking the Tunisian culture towards humanitarian thinking.
In a speech he had delivered on Thursday on the occasion of celebrating he national day for culture, Ben Ali stressed Tunisia's care to cling to its own heritage and to be involved in the march of progress and awareness so as to enrich self potentials and interact with the world's scientific and technological progress which covers all walks of life.
On the other hand, some 120 Tunisian journalists on Thursday signed the establishment of an independent trade Union which is the first of its kind in Tunisia aiming to defending the freedom of the press and improving professional journalism conditions.
