Road linking Morocco to Mauritania to open next October, official

A road linking Morocco to its southern neighbor, Mauritania, should be operational as early as October, announced, here Tuesday, Moroccan Prime Minister Driss Jettou.
Jettou made the announcement at a meeting with visiting Mauritanian Premier, Sghair Ould M'Bareck, who is leading his country's delegation to the 4th meeting of the joint Moroccan-Mauritanian high commission of cooperation (May 25-26).
Talks focused on bilateral relations and means to boost cooperation in various fields with the two prime Ministers laying emphasis on the investments opportunities provided by the two countries for their respective private sectors.
They also discussed the possibility of promoting trade through the setting up of a sea link for the transport of passengers and merchandise in particular construction materials.
Another aspect of cooperation which proved to be a good example for the two countries, is the partnership between their respective phone companies
"Maroc Telecom" and "Mauritel," described by the Moroccan prime Minister as a "successful experience" that should be extended to other sectors.
