Information Minister meets with Mustafa Barghouthi
Syria-Palestine, Politics, 5/27/2004

Syria's Information Minister Ahmad al-Hasan Wednesday received the Secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative ( PNI ) Mustafa al-Barghouthi, and the Human Rights Affairs Advisor to the Palestinian Authority Ibraheem al-Dakak.

Talks during the meeting dealt with "the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian lands and the Palestinian people's suffering as a result of the Israeli brutal practices."

Hasan stressed the importance of Arab media showing the just aspects of the Palestinian issue and "uncovering the lies of the Israeli allegations which have been sneaked through international media."

Barghouthi, for his part, referred to "Syria's pan-Arab role and its support to the Palestinian people in order to restore their legitimate rights." He described the US sanctions on Syria as unfair, unjustified and baseless and that they come in the service of Israel.
