Morocco sends humanitarian aid to Palestinian people
Morocco-Palestine, Politics, 5/24/2004

King Mohammed VI of Morocco, in his capacity as chairman of the Al Quds (Jerusalem) Committee- an offshoot of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC)-, on Saturday instructed the Government to send a humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, in particular to the inhabitants of the city of Rafah, which is being targeted by Israeli attacks, a press release from the foreign affairs and cooperation ministry said.

This aid, the ministry said, comes in "support to the Palestinian people who is going through painful circumstances because of Israeli military actions (..)." The assistance consists in hundreds of tents, blankets, food and medicine.

Morocco strongly condemned on Wednesday the Israeli raids that "target innocent civilians" in the occupied Palestinian territories "particularly the Gaza strip" after at least 40 Palestinians died in the offensive over the past days.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry stressed in a release that "the use of force cannot restore security and will only stir up violence."

Morocco called on the international community to "shoulder responsibility and act urgently to re-establish ceasefire and end the massacres and acts of destruction" against the "unarmed Palestinian people."
