Israel starts withdrawal from Tel al-Sultan in Rafah, Palestinian suffering compared to Jews world war II suffering
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 5/24/2004

Ezz Eddine al-Qassam groups, the military wing of the Islamic resistance movement ( Hamas) vowed to retaliate the Israeli occupation forces assassination of three Palestinians in Nablus in the West Bank including two of its armed forces and one member of al-Aqsa group of the Palestine national liberation movement ( Fatah).

The three were killed in a car explosion in Nablus in the West Bank. Witnesses said that Israeli helicopters were flying in the area shortly before the explosion took place, noting that remains of the three men scattered in the streets. The explosion also resulted in damaging several buildings.

News reports said that the occupation forces cordoned the site of the explosion and that clashes took place between them and citizens and this resulted in wounding a 13- year old teenager.

In a later development, the Israeli daily Yediot Ahronot said that the occupation forces started withdrawal today early morning from a main quarters in Rafah to the south of Gaza.

The paper added that the forces actually started withdrawal from al-Sultan quarters which it had occupied since last Tuesday.

Witnesses said they saw several tanks moving outside the area, but the occupation forces are still blocking the roads leading to other parts of Rafah.

However, strong criticism addressed by the Israeli minister of justice Youssef Labid over the practices of the Israeli forces in Rafah angered the prime minister Ariel Sharon and his Cabinet ministers after Lapid described the sufferings of the Palestinians life in comparison to the suffering of his family members in the second world war.

Sharon said in statements at the inauguration of a session for the Israeli government that Lapid's statements can not be accepted or ignored, noting the damage that will be inflected on the image of Israel in the World. Right wing parliamentarians called for resignation of Lapid from the government. N.
